Be Glad and Rejoice!

One of my favorite movies growing up was Disney’s Pollyanna. This is dialogue from one of my favorite scenes (there are many) :

Pollyanna: There are eight hundred happy texts, did you know that?

Reverend: No, I didn’t know that.

Pollyanna: Yes, well there are. And do you know, my father said that if GOD took the trouble to tell us eight hundred times to be glad and rejoice, He must have wanted us to do it.

I am rejoicing and I am very glad to be the newest 1st Presbyterian staff member.

A snippet of my story

The whole of my professional career has been in Marketing Communications. It has been my great joy to have worked for Industry greats and have been trained and mentored by amazing individuals.  Shifting staff assignments at 1st Pres this past summer presented a prayed-for opportunity. I wanted to make use of my experience and here was a chance to serve a community that I have come to love.

Family

‘My’ Craig and I became friends in college [San Diego State University – Go Aztecs!]. After graduation we went our separate ways. Fast forward many years and with the help of the internet, we reconnected a little over 11 years ago. Married 6 years,  Craig and I have an amazing blended family – Craig’s daughter and son + wife and my two daughters and a pending son-in-law. The lovely news is that they really like each other – quite a blessing.

Personally, I’m fairly new to the Inland Northwest. I moved here permanently in 2015 so if I have a puzzled look on my face when you mention an area specific place or event, be patient. I’m learning.

Back to Pollyanna
Early on this story influenced my outlook on life – a perspective of optimism, hope, looking for the good in others, and my faith in God.

I’m honored to be serving you. I look forward to working with you.

Blessings,

~Janet

This will show my age, but I have loved the Pollyanna stories ever since I read the first book in the ’40s. I’ve never seen the movie! We used to refer to her as “Pollyanna, the glad girl,” didn’t we? Well, I’m glad you’ve taken this position and how glad we all are that you bring such a great resume to our small community. Fondly, Kitty
