My, how the summer has flown by!!! Seems like I blinked and it’s almost Fall. I feel so blessed to live in beautiful northern Idaho. Since moving here two years ago, I’ve fallen more in love with the community. The people are so friendly, making me feel more at home.

This year my family and I have been taking advantage of more of the local events, especially the free outdoor concerts around the area that happen almost every day of the week. I am amazed of the talent of the musicians in the area. It has been so nice to be able to put a camping chair down and enjoy the beautiful scenery around us as the music plays. It is so peaceful!

It is at these events I sometimes find myself reflecting on the direction that God has taken our family, and I am amazed where He has us now. If you asked me five years ago where we would be today, I would imagine our lives differently. This direction God has taken us is not what we expected or planned but I have found great joy and peace in this path He has taken us.

Proverbs 16:9- The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

My walk with Christ began when I was a freshman at the University of Montana. God touched my brother’s life while he was serving in the Air Force in Germany and God used him to show me that God loves and chose me.

A couple years later God brought my husband, Leo, into my life and we celebrated our 35 wedding anniversary in July! Leo has been such a blessing to me. Leo has such a passion for God’s Word he finds it difficult to talk about anything else. Together, God has given us a passion for people and has used our home to minister and encourage others. God has given us such joy and blessings using us in this way!

But just like every family, we have had many good times and some very difficult life situations. When times were hard, God has been our comforter and strength as we learned to rely on Him for direction and trust in Him through each trial. I cannot imagine how we would have gotten through without knowing God had control of everything and ultimately He would be glorified.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

The music in the parks have been a gift to allow me to relax and reflect. I know that God has more plans for our family and I’m excited to find out what’s next. I’m so grateful!
