As a church family, we want to be sure everyone has an opportunity to grow in their faith and create great friendships – beyond just Sunday mornings. So, in keeping with our core value #3: “We will venture together on a hopeful journey into healing, overflowing life through Christ,” we created Venture. Venture is an unique, special time to connect with others, worship the Lord, and go deeper in our walk with God.
Venture meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays for a total of seven sessions. February 13 & 27; March 13 & 27; April 10 & 24; May 8.
4:00pm – 5:30pm – Afternoon Bible Study
5:30pm – 6:15ish pm – Dinner in Krueger Hall – A catered meal served buffet style with kid-friendly options.
6:15pm – 6:45pm – Worship & Prayer – We will move into the sanctuary for an intimate time of worship and prayer.
6:45pm – 8:00pm – Adult & Youth Studies
Titus: A Life-changing Encounter with God’s Word (4:00pm – 5:30pm)
If you have not participated in actual Bible study before, this is a very good place start – a seven-session study of a short, but powerful, New Testament book: Titus. If you have experienced Bible Study and found it very edifying, this study is perfect for you, too. Participants can stay for dinner and worship afterwards. Open to everyone. Led by Carolyn Fish & Linda Lemkau. Meets in the Lakeside Room.
LOVE1st 101 (6:45pm – 8:00pm)
Open to anyone interested in finding out more about 1stPres, our mission, history and vision for the future – and how you can become a part of it! This is a great way to become more engaged with the life of the church, and is a must if you’re seeking membership. Led by Pastor Craig Sumey. Meets in the Conference Room.
The Good and Beautiful Life (6:45pm – 8:00pm)
We will meet with other adults in a small group to discuss James Bryan Smith’s wonderful study about how falling in love with the God that Jesus knows changes us and transforms us into children of God. Open to everyone. Led by Keith & Laura Taylor. Meets in the Fireside Room.
Stepping Up – A Men’s Bible Study (6:45pm – 8:00pm)
A short-term, evening men’s group that will be 7 sessions of laughter, growth, sharing, encouragement, accountability, prayer, and fellowship. We will be studying that amazing book we call The Bible, and discovering simple ways to dig deeper into its truths and find daily, practical application for our lives. Open to all men. Led by Steve Balas and Brad Andrysiak. Meets upstairs in the Hunter Building.
One Thousand Gifts – A Women’s Study (6:45pm – 8:00pm)
In this study, by bestselling author Ann Voskamp, we will discover creative tools for finding God’s joy in the midst of all life’s circumstances – even tragedy. Embark on this personal, honest and fresh exploration of what it means to be deeply fulfilled, wholly loved, and fully alive. Open to all women. Led by Lynn Sumey. Meets in the Lakeside Room.
DYG – The Downtown Youth Group (6:45pm – 8:00pm)
This is for middle-school and high-school students. Everyone will be together for the meal time, games and activities. Then during, small-group time, we will separate for focused discussion topics about our life with God. Led by Josh Wagner and co-leaders.
Even if you are not interested in attending one of the classes, we strongly encourage you to come and join us for the meal and/or worship & prayer time. It’s an awesome opportunity to spend time with God, and fellowship with your church family!
Potty-Trained thru Elementary Schoolers will have child care available to them for the evening studies only. There is no cost, but prior registration is required.
To facilitate planning, we are asking for everyone to sign up in advance for the entire seven session season. But you are welcome to sign up for only the parts you want, so you can elect to:
- Go only to your class,
- Go only to the meal and worship time,
- Go to your class AND the meal and worship time!
To pay by PayPal or credit card go here.
Classes – Cost to register for a class is only $10 for materials. Couples registering together may elect to share materials.
Meals – The meals will be catered by local restaurants, so it is important for us to have an accurate head count and payment in advance. The cost for all seven meals will be $50 per person (that’s about $7.14 per meal). Kids middle school and under eat for free, and there is a family maximum of $150 for those with older children.
Guests – Guests are very welcome, but if they are going to participate in meal time, they need to be registered by the Sunday prior so we can ensure food is ordered for them. The cost is $7.50 per adult for individual meals.
Register here. Registration is required to participate in the meals, classes or children’s programs.
