We are God’s Masterpiece

This month, the littlest members of our church are learning that Jesus has an extra-tender spot when it comes to children. We have also been learning that we are all unique and special. Just how God wants us: perfect in his sight. WOW, this struck me as such an important lesson for adults to grasp, too!

Of course, we have heard this sentiment time and time again, but do we really hear it? What about hearing it like a child would? After all, we are called to imitate the simple unworldly ways of little ones when it comes to believing Christ (Mark 10:15). When you tell a child they are special and unique, they believe it. They beam with pride and their smile says it all, “I am special.” Oftentimes, adults will not react in that same way. Rather, we may offer up a laundry list of why we aren’t special, or maybe things we wish were different about ourselves. How our view would change if we could see ourselves through Jesus’ eyes!

One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 2:10 NLT, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” This scripture speaks to my heart. We are God’s MASTERPIECE; how cool is that?!  There are several definitions for the word “masterpiece” depending on where you look. My favorite is found on Dictionary.com, “A person’s greatest work of art.” So we are God’s greatest work of art, a masterpiece created in his image, so we can carry out the things he has planned for our lives. I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel pretty special!

Blessings, Carley

Wow, what a great reminder of why Christmas is such a wonderful reminder of how special we all are in God’s sight and the guidance He has given us in the person of Jesus Christ. Thank you Carley!
