March 1, Happy First Day of Spring!

3/1/2021

Happy first day of spring, everybody! Bulbs will be popping up, snowfalls and piles of snow are almost gone, dogwood trees are about to flower, and temperatures are on the rise. March 1, the first day of spring, has finally arrived. But many believe the first day of spring isn’t until the vernal equinox occurs on March 20, the astronomical spring. March 1 is just the meteorological spring. So today’s question is, can both be true? Are March 1 and March 20 both the first day of spring?

The Bible says that Jesus is the beginning and the end. He is both king and servant, a shepherd and the sacrificial lamb. Our savior is the bright morning star and the delicate rose of Sharon. In our lives as followers of Jesus we constantly learn that polar opposites can be true at the same time. This truth is a constant thread in our faith; it is repetitive, normal, and consistent.

Philosophers, scholars, ethicists, and seminarians wrestle with these questions: How can similar things be different, how can different things be the same, and what is true? Even Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth?” a question Jesus did not answer for him.

I cling to these truths:
  • Jesus loves me; this I know;
  • God is so good;
  • There is a balm in Gilead;
  • The Lord is my shepherd, and
  • Spring is a-comin’!

Happy first day of Spring to our church family and our community! This is my story; this is my song. Amen

In His Service, Kent

Thank you, Kent. I had to add the last part of the line as James W. Moore titled a chapter in one his books, "This is My Story." Say guys, there's a tune that goes with that...

Still enjoying my visit in tropical Idaho...
