The Cross Room

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light.

The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer. “Lord, I can’t go on,” he said. “I have too heavy a cross to bear.”

The Lord replied, “My son, if you can’t bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door, and pick out any cross you wish.”

The man was filled with relief. “Thank you, Lord,” he sighed, and he did as he was told. Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible. Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. “I’d like that one, Lord,” he whispered. And the Lord replied, “My son, that is the cross you just brought in.”

I have a journal full of what I like to call my “Words of Wisdom” and over the years I often pull this journal out and read through all that I have saved. Each and every one of them invokes a memory of some stage of my life, some joyful, some not so much.

This particular one I stumbled across right after the loss of my husband, Rich. God heard me and saw my struggles…..He provided!

Blessings,
Chris

I've kept in mind the saying ever since I first heard it, "Don't sweat the small stuff." No matter how big you think the problem is, it's all small stuff. Think about computer science, where we were taught to break down a problem from the top into smaller parts. That works for nearly every project, any skill, any talent.

Thank you, Chris.
